My husband and I have been planning to build our own home for a long time. After doing research and speaking with our bank, we came to the conclusion that the best way to accomplish our goal would be to purchase property with cash and take out a building or construction loan for the construction project. We’ve been saving toward that goal for several years. Just this past year, we actually took our first step and purchased property and are now beginning the exciting journey towards our dream home. We hope to document our progress from start to finish as a record for ourselves, and a potentially useful reference for others who may be planning a similar project.
